Emberfall Legends

Emberfall Legends is the kind of mobile RPG I keep hoping to find and rarely do. The story actually forks, and choices you make in the first act come back to bite or reward you much later. Your party of four each has a distinct voice, and the writing has enough wit that I stopped skipping the dialogue.

Combat is turn-based with a positioning twist: where you stand on the grid changes what your abilities do. The skill trees are broad enough to build a tank-mage or a glass-cannon rogue, and respeccing is cheap, so experimenting never feels punished. Boss fights are the highlight, each one a puzzle you solve with the tools you built.

My one gripe is a mid-game difficulty dip where random encounters get repetitive. Push through it and the final chapters are excellent. For a game you can play in bursts on the train, it respects your attention more than most.
